- When: starting at 5 PM
Paris flamboyance and theatrical personality will be heading to the streets of Rochester NY with a public fashion and photo shoot in the East End Festival on August 13 2010 near Spot Coffee. Local modeling talent has been strutting out of the woodwork, tossing modesty and fear to the Dark Ages, to pose inside this unique celebration of art and beauty in Rochester’s hippest festival. Some are doing it for the chance to work with internationally acclaimed photographer, and icon of the Parisian underground, Velvet d’Amour. Others are in it for a cause.
Velvet D’ Amour of La Ferme Célébrités en Afrique, Jean-Paul Gaultier's prêt-à-porter collection and other major runway surprises, has already turned the international fashion scene upside down, for questioning the world’s perception of “what beauty is”. Velvet will now be bringing a live, interactive photographic experience right here, to Rochester’s hippest festivals on Friday, August 13 2010 near the VIP area starting at 5 and shooting until 8 PM. The photo shoot is all part of the Star VIP EXPO and benefit for Safe Journey for Women, in which other locally born celebrities will be joining in her cause. Velvet is not revealing exactly what she has planned, but if the expo in Spot Coffee is any representation of what she has in mind, this may take Rochester by storm.
Talk about exposure!
"DFC East End Music Festival"
Not Just a New Name!
2010- The East End Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary with not only a subtle change to its name (removing "Music"), but a big change to its image and plans.
Throughout 2009, the East End Fest began a shift towards promoting other events throughout the neighborhood, giving preference to neighborhood vendors, and streamlining the festival’s processes, beginning a shift into the long-term plan for the event, which will in coming years increase its focus on food, culture, the neighborhood, and exciting sporting events. It also hopes to spread its reach to include the full range of the neighborhood west of Union St.
Dropping “Music” from the title was more than a change to save ink on the letterhead - John Hutchings, organizer of the festival wanted to see more focus on the neighborhood, not just on the music.
John said, “As the owner of a fitness club myself, I believe strongly that a good neighborhood festival can always stay centered on music, but shouldn’t forget to reach out to all members of its neighborhood, to include food, fun, and of course, fitness."
